Laserline and oculavis GmbH present productive Augmented Reality app for field service
Which technician wouldn’t want to have a X-ray view into his machine? With the Augmented Reality App for next generation LDM laser series of Laserline this wish comes true for customers of Laserline as well as for field service engineers..
Oculavis GmbH developed an Augmented Reality App in cooperation with Laserline GmbH for productive use in field service and maintenance. The solution is being rolled out in September. On the tradeshow Laser World Photonics in Munich from 09/26 – 09/29/2017 Laserline GmbH already presented the application to its customers.
Technicians of Laserline and maintenance staff of the end customer have the possibility to watch inside of machines and equipment without really opening them. After scanning an Augmented Reality marker, virtual components, manuals and maintenance instructions are projected onto reality. In addition, the end user of the machine can contact Laserline’s service experts with a video chat by only one click. For this purpose, oculavis integrated its remote service platform SHARE into the Laserline app. Augmented manuals and a realtime machine support with tablets and smart glasses are only the first step on the way to a highly innovative and efficient service. In the future the app will also deliver realtime data of machines to enable an online remote diagnosis of Laserline devices.

Google Glass 2: lightweight and comfortable – now publically available
In the last weeks Google surprised everyone by releasing the Google Glass 2 Enterprise Edition. After a 2-year lasting confidential partner program that oculavis was part of, the Google Glass 2 goes now public. With only 43gr the device is the lightest smart glass in the market with an impressive voice control and a comfortable touch pad.
The lightweight design of the monocular device enable full shift use cases for the first time. Especially in the areas of worker guidance and training Google Glass 2 makes perfectly sense. The see-through display has a resolution of 640x360 and therefore requires adequate content provision. The performance of the device is comparatively low, streaming realtime video and audio signals brings the device to its limits at the moment. Wearer of regular glasses can get customized frames and even safety glasses are available for the Google Glass 2.
Oculavis already deployed Google Glass Enterprise Edition in various projets together with the industry. E.g., for an automotive OEM a worker guidance system has been developed. ING2BIZ GmbH, a consulting company, uses Google Glass 2 for training and process documentation. Aachen based DFA GmbH uses the hardware for assembling electro carts.
